Philip Bailey，這個歌手其實並不熱門
剛剛在GOOGLE找了一下，台灣似乎也沒啥人專題討論或介紹他

原因是，他所處的團體「很經典」（ Earth, Wind & Fire ）
但是，個人專輯卻表現平平

這首歌是1985年的了…那時，小蝸牛高二…
當時西洋樂壇裡，有幾個歌手的假音讓我一聽傾倒的只有三位
一個是 George Michael ，另一個就是 Philip Bailey
這兩個歌手是一聽傾倒，而 Prince 則是一聽成「主顧」
從此…每張 Prince 的專輯我都有

Philip Bailey 的專輯之會被我注意，起因於他和 Phil Collins 合唱了一曲 Easy Lover
那時覺得…「哇靠！這個男的假音怎麼那麼好聽…」

後來，專輯的名稱「Chinese Wall 」更是有想像空間
儘管 Walking On The Chinese Wall 這首歌在 Billboard Hot 100 最高也只有46名
但，在 ICRT 裡聽過一次之後，立馬決定收藏起來

當時的政治環境，是沒有機會接觸相關「禁忌」的東西
長城耶！

真的會想像 MV 是拍成啥樣的

因為歌詞裡提到了「紅樓夢」
這讓小蝸牛有些嚇到
畢竟，中國文學章回小說，美國人怎麼會懂？

的確，期望越高…落空越深
這首 MV 多年後被我看到了！
只能說…一整個傻眼

一開始的那一群除草的女人…在幹嘛啊？
說她們是中國人…不如說是「越南人」還比較恰當
拿的那個鐮刀，跟死神拿的刀一般大
整首 MV 看下來
中國在哪裡？
長城在哪裡？
我期待的浪漫在哪裡？

只見一個戴斗笠的女人靠在一個袒胸的男人身上
這…這不是浪漫啊！

一首 MV 毀了我對這首歌曲20多年來的好印象

不過，轉念一想
1985年，那時的中國在西方的眼裡不就是這個樣子嗎？
所以當年鄧小平指出「貧窮不是社會主義，社會主義要消滅貧窮」
從那時開始…中國開始崛起
扯遠了…兩岸政策的東西看多了

不過，這首歌…我還是很喜歡的！
